Women are wired differently from men yet we were created to complement each other to function together in harmony. Yet often, such differences are highlighted in relationships becoming the source of conflict and misunderstanding instead of being something that completes the other. Perspective matters. If we get fixated on our spouses difference from ours and refuse to accept that such distinction could be beneficial, then a clash could be expected. From the standpoint of a woman, it is difficult to welcome such differences easily. Perhaps in the men's viewpoint, the same may be said. Because instead of taking advantage of the uniqueness, we see it as an encumbrance--a thorn on the side. That being said, we end up not giving the difference a chance altogether and we try to manipulate each other into changing to become like us or to someone we desire. In our head, we think it will work better. We fail to realize that our marriage is God's design, that when He brought us together he knew who we were and what we were made of. He knitted us together in our mother's womb and formed our inmost being. He made our paths cross knowing full well how we will complement our husband/wive's flaws and how they will, in return, complement us. The question is, do you want to discover how your differences will balance each other in perfect symmetry? Or you'd rather blow up the difference and ignore God's design and purpose for your marriage?

Lord, I thank You for choosing the best man and giving him to me. It is true that two is always better than one and I am now learning to appreciate the beauty of our oneness. Being too proud and arrogant, it took me a while to realize that flying solo is never the best solution, that the more excellent way is to fly together as one. Now I am slowly understanding Your blueprint of our marriage. You designed our bodies, our minds and our hearts to be together, to complete the other, to multiply the other's joy and divide the sorrows. Thank You for helping me discern our differences and teaching me to get past them, for being able to acknowledge them now with pure acceptance. Thank You for making me realize that there is a purpose for You joining us together, that our independent parts are always, always better when joined as one. Guide me Father to always keep all these in mind even amidst misunderstandings and conflicts. Most of all I thank You, that now, I have full appreciation and gratitude of Your wonderful gift to me 15 years back, the peanut butter to my jelly, the butterfly in my belly, the straw to my berry, the yin to my yang, the water to my fire, the light to my dark. Thank You for my rock star angel who wears jeans, sings Bon Jovi and has stubbles :) Amen.
