Being with our spouses for several years day in and day out, exposes us to the many of their hidden faults. As surely, they are also laid bare to ours. These faults that we find hard to bear leads to endless nagging, criticism and to some extent, even harassment. I wasn't God but I played the part in my husband's life. I did all those because I wanted to change my husband's heart and mold it to my liking and my pleasure. But I was never able to get into his heart, even worse, it drew him further away. Why should I be surprised, when I wasn't such a joy to be with at all. Only after I sought God to cause a change in my own heart and my life was I able to learn to kneel and bring all those grievances to Him, acknowledging that it was only Him that can shape the heart, character and attitude of my husband according to His will, just as He did with me. The first time I heard my husband pray aloud for me was I able to realize that indeed, prayer is the most loving thing husbands and wives can do for their spouses. I feel the most proud when Paul prays for our marriage, our children, our families and I feel the most loved when he intercedes for me.

Lord, thank you for teaching me to be a "wise farmer", for showing me that I must nurture the soil of my loved one's heart, to let it grow in love instead of manipulating and demanding his heart to bear the fruits that I want. The years have drawn us into a comfortable and sometimes hostile distance, causing weeds to grow instead of crops. Thank you for this major breakthrough in my faith. Now I kneel in humility instead of standing up on my own feet in arrogance. Now I find myself relying on prayers and trusting that it will yield amazing results, not necessarily in line with my desires but in Your will. More importantly, now I earnestly pray for the most important relationship and the most important man in my life. I am in awe of the changes You have made and are still making in me. Amen.
Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.
-- 3 John 2
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
