It is said that women will check their reflection an average of eight times a day. Whether it is a quick glance as we walk past a car or shop window, a brief look in the rear view mirror to fix of our hair before stepping out of the car, a hurried check on your compact and a sweep of gloss on the lips before an interview, a sneaky selfie glimpse on your phone during a board meeting or glamming up for hours on end for a special date or event--admit it, we can be vain.
Whether we take pride or find fault in our appearance, the important thing is to remember that God calls us His. A beloved. beautiful creation. He looks past the mirror, instead He searches our heart. No amount of make-up, botox or diet can conceal what's within. Consider this--whatever he sees within, whatever we have done in the past and even still are doing, no matter how ugly we are inside, whatever repulsive things He finds in us--His love is absolute. It is complete.I asked myself this question a million times, "How can it be?" To this day, I still cannot fathom the depth, breadth and length of this love. This kind of love should draw us near to Him.
The next time that you see your reflection in the mirror, look within and ask yourself. Do I glow in God's truth and radiate the love of Christ? Am I blooming where I am planted? Are my eyes beaming in His glory, happily basking in His presence? Do I speak with gentle words and is His love shining through my smile and laughter? Does God's grace and love echo through my words, revealed through my actions and resonate through my thoughts?
